Importing Flexible Squares journal style to Dreamwidth

I am so happy that I could port Flexible Squares over from Livejournal! This calls for better layout customisation options. I haven't been trying to improve my XHTML/CSS skills for a while, so let's just say that I kind of suck in this area. The only one I can customise well is probably FS and FS alone. Shame on me, I know.

But hey, I'm not a coder. I'm an English teacher in the making.

It's easy to port Flexible Squares to DW.
  1. Select Journal Style > Developer Area > Your Layers
  2. Create top-level layer. Type: Layout. Core Version: 1 > Create
  3. Your Layers > Livejournal S2 Core, v1 > Edit
  4. Paste this source code
  5. Save and compile
  6. Flexible Squares should be ready to choose from journal style selection~

I've been testing out some styles made by refuted graphics over at LJ. They all work great with FS on DW.

At the moment, this DW is using the exact same layout as my LJ. I'll go and have fun with new DW layouts now!

I'm feeling:: bouncy

I just started on dreamwidth today and I was so sad to find out I couldn't use flexible squares! This fix worked like a charm, and now I'm having tons of fun playing with my journal! Thanks!

I couldn't make it. I had a lot of compilation errors behind, so I cannot use it *sobs*

Thank you so much! Oh gosh, I was just Googling for a way to possibly bring my LJ layout over, and lo and behold, I find your journal. I see you are also an artist, so I'll be watching you. (X

Like others, I must thank you very much for posting this information. I'm switching over from LJ, and I was quickly and easily able to set up and import my custom FS based theme.

Thank you so much, this is way quicker than trying to compile the code as it's given on LJ and having a bunch of errors!

One problem: On a journal I used an imported flexisquares layout on, the entry headers no longer link to the entries, even though they do on all the Flexible Squares layouts I've used on LJ. Might you know why?

LIke others Google led me to your entry - it was a great help, thank you very much! Just a few more tweaks and some code clean-up and my DW account will look exactly like the LJ one. \o/

Thank you so much for the post! I've been looking everywhere trying to find a place that would show me how to convert the theme over here. Hey, it really works!

Thank you so much for this. Last time I tried this I had so many problems with it.

EDIT: Upon having some problems with userpics and the names underneath them on the 'read' page, I noticed that the layer still uses "friends" for this. Some of those instances need to be changed to "read" for these to work properly.

Thank you! :D One of the big disadvantages of DW for me is the lack of pretty layouts! :D
